I’m a doer but also a dreamer - infinitely hopeful, constantly optimistic, and I’m always bursting at the seams to get these parts of my spirit out into the world.
I do this through my words.
I do this through my actions.
And these mandala are the visual representation of that same part of me.
For many years, I have been creating these designs for my daughters to explore and find the 4-word messages I hide in them. At a certain point, I realized that as they navigate the patterns, they meditate, and I do the same as I create. I began sharing my creations with friends who have given them the moniker "meditation mandalas." With the support of this group of people behind me, I feel grateful to have found the strength to share my creative side with the world.
Using archival quality metallic ink on a variety of surfaces - paper, fabric, matte - I begin with 4 (or, as yet, in one case 5) words of inspiration drawn from the mood of the day, my interactions with others, my feelings about an experience of mine or someone else’s. From there, I choose colors, texture, size and shape oftentimes based upon the words, and at other times as a result of where the piece will live and who the piece will live with. Each design is a one of a kind reflection of a moment in time.
